C. F. Maier's concept for smart street furniture combines spatial design, 5G network expansion, digital functions, sustainability and ecological issues.
Functional outdoor furniture
The expansion of the 5G network is necessary to significantly increase the response speed and throughput of the radio network. The concept offers individual systems with which corresponding 5G radio stations and antennas can be suitably integrated into the cityscape, thus setting the course for a digital future. A targeted approach is required to meet and combine the complex requirements of materials and ecology in addition to technology when designing sustainable public spaces.
Our innovative street furniture
- includes seating, lounging and shelter options as well as integrated lighting systems that reduce anxiety in public spaces at night
- also serves as a WLAN hotspot and charging station for mobile devices via USB interfaces or induction charging devices
- generates the required electricity via solar panels when needed. Batteries allow electricity to be stored for times of the day and year when there is little sunshine. Surpluses can be fed into the public power grid.
- enables the urban space to benefit from integrated green areas, ranging from planting trees to innovative planting concepts such as "green walls"
- is made of a radiolucent material that allows antennas to be accommodated without being visually disruptive
- is very robust and flame-retardant and therefore vandal-proof as well as corrosion and weather-resistant, making it particularly durable
- is assembled as a modular system so that different objects can be combined with each other as required, creating a varied yet consistent appearance
Product family city:hub
- Predominantly simple, straightforward shapes
- Flat elements
- Formally related elements such as trapezoids or rectangular shapes
- Canopies as rain protection and solar panel supports
- Used as stand-alone objects such as plant or recycling containers
- Vertical walls can be greened or used as advertising space
The modular system combines various functions:
- Seating
- Reclining facilities
- Bicycle racks
- Display boards
Integrated environmental sensors
- Weather data
- Current particulate matter levels
- Noise pollution
city:mod product family - freely combinable modular system
- Both harmonious and functional as an architectural element in public spaces
- Connection and overlapping of different hexagonal geometries
- Countless possible combinations
- Can be used vertically and horizontally
- Technological integration thanks to invisibly integrated sensors
Arrangement of the elements as a playscape
- tunnel
- Climbing elements
- Opportunities for jumping or hide-and-seek games
- Randomly arranged elements challenge children's inventiveness
- Numerous creative play options possible in, on or around the furniture
